Our Companion Parishes:
Saint Saviour Pimlico

Saint Saviour Pimlico, LondonWe are pleased to announce a new Companion relationship with the Church of Saint Saviour, Pimlico, London. This connexion has come about through the initiative of the Bishops of New York and London to twin parishes in Manhattan and Central London.

A message from the Rev’d Matthew Woodward, Vicar:

We are an Anglican (Church of England) parish, and we serve the whole community of Pimlico, within which our church finds itself.

Everyone is welcome here. We have a catholic tradition, so we value the ancient wisdom of the Christian faith, and hope to experience the mystery and grandeur of God, both in our friendship and fellowship, and in ways that speak to the needs of the modern world.

We are called Saint Saviour (the Holy Saviour), and we endeavour to live up to the challenge this name presents us by travelling together towards the kingdom that Christ came to start, a kingdom of love, forgiveness, welcome, healing, inclusion and peace.

Fr Woodward spent some time in New York in June 2009 with a group of clergy from London and paid several calls on us at Saint Ignatius, including participating in the liturgy at the Feast of Corpus Christi. Fr Blume also visited Saint Saviour’s this past June and was received very warmly by the people there. He encourages members of Saint Ignatius to pay a visit to Saint Saviour's when next in London (it is very close to the Tate Gallery!) and to consider making it their parish home away from home. Indeed, please get in touch with Fr Woodward and let him know you are coming or simply show up and introduce yourself to him when you stay after Mass for tea. In the months and years ahead, we hope that members of our two parishes will visit each other and share their concerns in prayer and mutual ministry. Please stay tuned for news of our growing relationship and the ways in which you can be involved.
