Parish ShieldMission Statement

Preamble
Together, we are called by God to bring forth by our lives and actions the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through liturgy, preaching, study, service and stewardship in our community.

Liturgy
At St. Ignatius, the devotion and care we give to our worship, through our liturgy, are intended to be gifts to God and to all assembled that we may be drawn closer to God, experience Christ’s presence in the Sacraments, and find unity with a community of faithful people.

Spoken Word
We value the spoken word and appreciate sermons that engage our intellect and our emotions with a reasoned explication of scripture in light of tradition, faith, scholarship, and human experience.

Study
Our community values and enjoys a tradition of education for adults and children. In an atmosphere of freedom and respect, we aspire to know and understand the manifold ways in which God speaks to us.

Service

We seek to manifest Jesus by serving and bearing witness to those in need in our parish, neighborhood, and the world.

Stewardship
Our stewardship is a recognition of God’s grace in our lives, calling us to be cheerful givers of our talents, our time, and our financial resources in support of the people, programs and facilities through which the St. Ignatius community expresses its faith and carries out its Mission.

Hospitality
We are an inclusive and welcoming community sharing values as reflected in the traditions, history, and arts of the Church. We do not define ourselves by geography, nor by race, age, education, or sexual orientation, but by our common Mission. The Mass is our evangelism, and we are committed to making newcomers and members alike feel welcome and comfortable here.

This statement was prepared in December 2006 as part of the parish's self-study process.
