Children and Families

Families with children are welcome at all our liturgies, especially at our 9:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. Sunday morning masses.

Some programs are outlined below. Additional information may be found by reading the Rector’s letter to families here.

Sunday mornings we have professional childcare available for infants and children up through age 6 in our well-appointed playroom from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Parents and children may come and go throughout the service. We also have crayons and lectionary-based coloring sheets available in the back of the church for children to use during the services.

For reasons of safety and security, children can not wander around the building without supervision, nor can older children be in the playroom, where the childcare providers need to concentrate on the needs of the younger children.

Sunday School

Sunday school for all ages begins at 10:15 A.M.. It takes place between the 9 and 11 A.M masses so families can choose which service they wish to attend.

Preschool—3rd Grade
Sunday School for our younger children will be led by Meredith Strauss. This class uses Godly Play, a Montessori-based curriculum developed by Episcopal priest Jerome Berryman that provides a strong introduction to both the life of the Church and the foundational stories from Holy Scripture.

4th—6th Grade
Our middle school group will focus upon the weekly scripture readings as their point of departure for discussion and exploration.

7th—8th Grade
This year the clergy will be offering a two year program for seventh and eighth graders that will lead to confirmation.

Youth Acolytes
Older children are invited to participate in services as Youth Acolytes at both the 9:00 AM and the 11:00 AM masses. Participation can include serving at the altar, singing in the choir, ushering, or reading the lessons.

Family Events
Throughout the year we will have special activities for children and families. All children are invited to participate in the annual Christmas Pageant; and please save the date for our Annual Family Christmas Party on the afternoon of Sunday, December 18th. We also look forward to a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and a Parish “Picnic” for Rogation Sunday!

Parents seeking to baptize their children should contact the Rector. You will find more information about Baptism here

Information about Confirmation can be found here.
