The Blessing of the Animals, 2013

On Sunday, October 6th we celebrated our sixth annual service of the Blessing of the Animals in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. Many creatures — dogs and cats, reptiles, fish and guinea pigs — joined us (quite vocally this year!) for the liturgy, which is an expression of God’s love for all Creation and of his call to us to care for it. Below are some pictures of the day.

Andy helps the rector prepare for the service.

Yes, there was a cat!

Of course, dogs galore!

And a beta fish!

There’s a lizard in there!

Thank you, everyone!

A moment of peace waiting for Evensong.
